unbound
Contemporary Art Month – San Antonio
Laredo Center for the Arts

The Laredo Center for the Arts is proud to present unbound as part of Contemporary Art Month San Antonio. This dynamic group exhibition brings together a diverse roster of artists whose work explores identity, memory, culture, and transformation through bold visual language and material experimentation.

Featuring Audrya Flores, Barbara Felix, Crystal Rocha, David Alcantar, Michelle Hernandez, and Lu Farrell, unbound highlights a range of practices from painting and sculpture to mixed media each offering a distinct perspective while collectively creating a vibrant dialogue about contemporary life and creative expression in our region.

Curated by Roberta “Nina” Hassele, Executive Director of CAM, the exhibition reflects the spirit of connection and artistic exchange that defines Contemporary Art Month. Through layered narratives, personal symbolism, and imaginative form, unbound invites viewers to reflect on movement into spaces, into identity, and into new ways of seeing.

Join us for the opening reception on March 6th from 6–9 PM, with an artist talk by Michelle Hernandez on March 14th from 2–3 PM. The exhibition will remain on view through May 1st.

We welcome the community to experience this compelling celebration of contemporary art.

Dan Clouse: Laredo Stories Reading & Plática

The Laredo Center for the Arts invites you to an evening with author Dan Clouse for a special reading and plática centered on memory, place, and the evolving identity of Laredo.

Through his work, Clouse revisits the small-town milieu of Laredo in the 1950s and 60s capturing the textures, voices, and moments that shaped a generation. His writing offers both a personal reflection and a shared cultural memory, bridging past and present through storytelling.

This program features selections from Laredo Stories: A Boyhood on the Rio Grande, followed by a conversation with the audience. A book signing will take place after the program.

“Funny here, wry there, a collection of poignant writing that is an homage to time and place.”

Join us as we reflect on the stories that continue to shape our community and the ones we carry forward.

Reminiscence and Furor

An Art Exhibition by Paulina Carretero

Through a series of paintings rooted in memory, reverence, and creative intensity, Carretero explores the persistence of female artistic expression as both resistance and declaration. Inspired by eight women whose creative impulses transcend time, this exhibition reflects on the vital resonance of their contributions and the enduring presence of women in shaping artistic and cultural history.
